I go to school and am amazed by what some girls wear. Low-cut shirts, too short skirts, and ridiculous heels. Seriously, what is up with that? If you've got to dress a certain way to attract a guy, news flash, he's probably not worht it.
Okay, anyways, here's the "guidelines" I promised...
Girls, please cover yourselves. You may think your bra is cute, your friends may think it's cute, and your boyfriend may want to see it, but I sure don't. Your shirts should not be so low as to show everything you've got. What do you think the guys are doing when they stand at the top of the stairwells and look down? Do you honestly think they're looking for their friends? No, they're staring down your shirts.
Pants should not be so tight as to the point of being unable to breathe. Really. When your pants are vacuum-sealed to your thighs, it not only looks trashy, but it gives you, dare I say it, a muffin top. Even on skinny people. Just don't do it.
And, while on the subject of pants, please, pull them up. I, among others, do not care what your underwear looks like. This goes for both boys and girls. Look, just pull your pants up over your butt, and it's all good.
Don't dress like an "Aber-zombie," and by this, I mean, don't wear all Abercrombie or Hollister or American Eagle and try to pretend like you have style. Doing so only shows a lack of creativity.
Don't dress like Lady Gaga in public. EVER. Unless you're going to a Halloween party, on Halloween. Don't try to pass off your lingerie as outerwear as an outfit. It's not.
Scene: the fashion movement. I don't understand. It's just... No. Wash that crap out of your hair your hair, wash your face, and put on some normal clothes.
It's not unheard of to bathe on a regular basis.
Like 1 and 3, underwear is meant to be worn under your clothes. It should stay there. Meaning that the rest of the world should not be able to see it.
Please do not advertise for designers on your chest. I'm pretty they make enough money as is without their name written across your shirt. Or your bag. Or your butt.
Don't dress like a whore, rapper,or anything to that effect. Contrary to popular belief, it's not attractive.
I believe that's all. I had a conversation with someone the other day. This is what we came up with.
I've always been the tall girl. You know, that one girl who is taller than all of the boys in second grade, who towers awkwardly over all her adorably petite friends. The girl who doesn't dance (well, not in public) because she's too darn awkward and her limbs would be all over the place.
Yeah. That's me.
Because I was taller than all the guys until ninth grade, I never had a Valentine. Okay, lies. In seventh grade, this obnoxious guy asked me to be his Valentine (seven times, I believe); I said no because he was icky. But I digress. I've never had a Valentine. I'm not really the kind of girl that all the guys just go crazy for. That would be my short friends. But I'm not bitter. No... I'm just the sarcastic, blunt, honest, ridiculously funny, albeit tall girl who all the guys find to be a friend. And now, even when I'm now shorter than all my guy friends... I still don't have a Valentine.
Granted, I'm not bitter. I'm not angry. And I'm not upset. I mean, what does someone's Valentine do? Call them? Go out to dinner with them? Go rollerskating? Eat cookies? Watch movies together? Honestly, I do not know.
Now, that said, if a certain someone were to ask me to be his Valentine, I would gladly accept, no questions asked. Who, you may ask, is this "certain someone"? No, it's not Logan Lerman (good Lord, if I did know him...), nor is it Nick Hoult (although I do indeed adore him). Okay, fine, it isn't my new Canadian obsession, Fraser Walters, either (and if you haven't heard him sing, you're seriously missing out. He's gorgeous and he can sing like an angel).
My special someone has, quite possibly, the nerdiest name ever. But it's adorable. And he's got a twin, albeit a fraternal twin, but I think he's the cuter one, to tell you the truth. He's got this big brown eyes, blonde hair, and, gosh, he's tall, too. He does swim and dive for the school team. He's a year older than me, but he's in my Physics class and has Calculus the period after me-- I swear, I'm not a stalker. The only other first year Calc class besides my fourth period class is fifth period. Oh, and, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure he was in my Pre-Calc class year. Might have sat in front of me (wow, go me... way to be observant).
Oh. And his name is Doug.
I plan on spending my Valentine's day in Seattle, because I want to go shopping. I need a new skirt. But, basically, I don't plan on doing anything cutesy and romantic for my Valentine's Day because, as mentioned before, I don't have anyone to spend my Valentine's Day with and it's never really been my favorite holiday. Granted, my experience last year wasn't amazing-- my dog died the day before. Needless to say, it wasn't a great day. I spent the better half of the morning with my brother, playing with his Legos, trying to avoid thinking about it.
I'm honestly not sure what I've been trying to say here, quite frankly.
Who will be your style icon(s) for 2010?
Hmm... I honestly have no idea.
Any style changes?
More heels, skinny jeans, and leggings. Over-sized sweaters with belts.
Name your favorite place(s) to shop:
H&M, Forever 21 (when I feel like spending hours in one store), Urban Outfitters, Alloy, Delias, Buckle, vintage stores.
What's your favorite thing in your closet at the moment?
My nude patent Deena & Ozzy oxford wedges from Urban Outfitters. They came last week. I love them. They're my hot nerd shoes.
What are your New Years Resolutions?
Be nicer.
Celeb/Model Crushes?
Robert Downey Jr., Anton Yelchin, Chris Pine, Zach Quinto (who cares if he's gay? He's beautiful!).
Most wished for item?
A Chanel bag. Hahaha. I'm considering asking for one for my 18th birthday.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Jewelry designer. Heck yes. Start my own line, spend lots of time in a studio doing what I love... That sounds like heaven to me.
How old are you?
16 years young. I would love to have my license but, alas, driving scares me silly. So I've been avoiding it.
Any weird obsessions?
Sharpie highlighters. Ankle boots. Anything made of white tulle that's fluffy. Starbucks. Glee. "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits. Boston. REO Speedwagon.
What did you do yesterday?
Got up. School. Rehearsal. Home. Sleep. Oh, and a panic attack at eleven at night. And we were on the news.
What are you doing today?
Just got home from rehearsal. It was Parent Preview night, the night before we open. It was, more or less, awful.
Describe your style:
I wear what I want when I feel like it...? I really hate people who only wear Abercrombie and Fitch, and then brag about how they've got such amazing style. Because they don't. What part of having someone force-feed you crappily made clothes is equivalent to style? None of it.
I wear jeans to school a lot, but that's because I have orchestra in the mornings, and trust me, it is soooooo hard to play cello in a skirt. Not to mention awkward. But I always wear a cute top. And pattern. I always throws some kind of pattern and exciting jewelry in.
I have three pairs on shoes that I wear on a regular basis: my black and white flats; my silver flats; and my black boots. But I own over twenty pairs.
I generally dress differently when I go out than when I got to school. Going out is when I wear skirts and heels and belts and whatnot.
Most overused texting phrase:
"Haha" or ":)" because I laugh and smile too much. People either think I'm fake-laughing (which I'm usually not), or flirting (when I'm not).
Favorite show:
Oh, goodness. CSI, NCIS: LA, CSI: Miami, Mercy, Make It or Break It, What Not To Wear, re-runs of Style Her Famous.
If you could look like anyone who would it be?
Rose Huntington-Whitley or Adriana Lima. Brunette, but gorgeous.
Last movie you watched?
Wow. It's been ages since I've had the time to watch a movie. Probably would have been Terminator: Salvation.
Any last words?
"Always look on the bright of life!" and "If there's not a happy ending, it ain't the end, sweetie."
PS-- This is the school show that I have currently devoted all of my life to. Check out the video, as we were featured on the local news: http://www.king5.com/video/featured-videos/Pamalot-81271037.html
I have a problem. A BIG problem. A problem of epic proportions. It's huge! Gargantuan! Humongous! Gigant-- yeah, you get the picture.
Over the past year and a half, I've have two boyfriends, two almost boyfriends, and several guys like me. Now, you might be wondering why on Earth none of these relationships worked out, right? I mean, how could a charming, sarcastic, cynical, enthusiastic, funny person like me be completely able to hold a lasting relationship with a guy?
I blame Disney.
No, really. I do.
I was the kid who watched all of the Disney classics and could quote the vast majority of them by the age of six. I believe Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King to be two of the best movies ever made. I really, honestly do. I mean, I still cry at the end of each one, even though I know what happens and I know it all ends happily.
But, from a very young age, I got it into my head that I had to have this perfect guy, this total Prince Charming, who was going to sweep me off my feet, and we'd be madly in love and get married and so would end that story.
I'm finding life isn't nearly that gracious, nor is it that simple.
Unfortunately, I have a habit of pointing out the flaws in others. Sometimes, it's a blessing; other times, well, it isn't.
For example, my first boyfriend, whom we shall "C-Bear" (because that's what I still occasionally call him), well, it was all very immature. We held hands in the hall, went to the school play together, called each other... But that was about it. We lasted a month, unless you choose to disregard the week that I started ignoring him. So three weeks, basically, if you wish to be technical. We just ran out of things to talk about. And, you know, I realized that I didn't really like him all that much.
And then there was this summer: his name was Alex. We met at Youth Group, through a mutual friend. I liked him from the get-go. It took him a bit longer. Try a month and a half. I was so fed up with his failure to ask me out earlier that I almost said no. But, okay, fine, he showed up at my house and asked me out on a date. He even asked my dad's permission. You'd think I would've fallen for him right then and there... Unfortunately, we don't go to the same school, we never talked, I started avoiding him, and BAM! The relationship was over before it began, really.
Let's not forget about the second latest "love of my life". He doesn't even deserve to be named. I'm not even sure how to begin. It went a little something like this: boy meets girl; boy has girlfriend; girl likes boy, regardless; boy breaks up with girlfriend; boy kisses girl; girl decides she's crazy about him; girl runs out of free time; girl realizes she doesn't really care for him as much as she thought she did. Ta-da. The relationship didn't even get a chance to start before I was bored of him.
And, finally, we really can't forget the most complicated almost-relationship I've ever had. His name is, well, I guess we'll call him "Kyle" (which, for the record, is not his actual age). I met him while I was dating "C-Bear". Haha. We literally met on Facebook. Granted, it's not as creepy as it sounds because he goes to my school, is in drama, and has first period in the same hall as I do. In short, we've both liked each other on and off for about a year. And, for the kicker, he's had a girlfriend for the past ten months. Oh, fabulous, right? For the better portion of about four months, we had a "thing" over text. Yeah. I know. Ridiculous. And pathetic. But we both needed attention. It just happened. And then, about a week ago, he called it quits, but we're still friends. Yet, a week later, his girlfriend somehow finds out and she's my friend, so I've got to go about apologizing profusely, because I was selfish and yada-yada-yada. She forgives me. Not sure how that happened. And as much as I liked him, I'm really glad I didn't break them up. Because she really cares about him. And he and I would have too many issues, anyhow.
Those are really all the major relationships I've had in my sixteen years of life. Quite a short list, I know.
But, looking back, I realized that each time, I expected the guy to be something he wasn't. And you know what that was? I expected him to be a Prince Charming.
This is reality.
There's not going to be any guy to sweep me off my feet, shower me with kisses and affection, call me when I'm sad, hug me when I'm angry, laugh at my stupid jokes, not get offended by some offhanded sarcastic remark I make under my breath...
I'm probably never going to find myself a decent guy who isn't a total creepy perv who just likes me for my chest, but for my personality.
And I'll be forever blind to the great guy in front of me because I'm too busy drooling over the latest Hollywood heartthrob.
But my inner six-year-old says otherwise. She believes that I will find the perfect guy someday. And, being a hopeless romantic, I have no choice but to believe her.
On Christmas Eve this year, I went to the mall with one purpose: to buy a Christmas present for my dad. And my dad, being an avid movie watcher, (seriously. We have, like, 200 in our media room downstairs. Half of them aren't even opened yet. It's ridiculous,) hadn't bought Terminator: Salvation yet. So, naturally, I took it upon myself to buy it as his present. Because, well, if he didn't like it, then the rest of us would. I mean, my brother loves the action and my mom, sister and I... Well, Christian Bale is motivation enough.
Until we watched it tonight. At which point I realized that there are more reasons to be watching Terminator: Salvation than for Christian Bale. Their names are Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin. Consider me in love.
A shot from the movie. He is, obviously, on the left. Don't even try to convince me that he's not attractive until after you've looked into those gorgeous blue eyes of his.
Close up? Of Sam Worthington? Oh, gosh. Yes, please.
And as for the other one, Mr. Yelchin, who I will be marrying, someday...
This is his epic face. No. Seriously. Even with the facial expression, he just looks amazing. Drool-worthy? I do believe he is.
OH. MY. WORD. If you can't see that this guy is attractive, then, well, there's no hope left for you. The hair, the eyes, even the teeth! He's just drool-worthy.
Just thought I maybe ought to share them with you all, you know, as a first post for 2010. I mean, what better way to start off a new decade than with attractive men?
I've never really been one to go all out and celebrate for New Years. I mean, sure, the year is over so why not go have a party and get drunk, wasted, laid, and whatever else? Just don't invite me.
Now, don't get the wrong idea.
I'm not some antisocial freak. Most of the time.
I just don't really do parties. I'm not a party person...? Sure. We'll go with that.
I get invited to multiple parties, every year, by tons of friends, and I hate having to tell them, "Oh, sorry, but no thanks. I'd rather stay at home with my family." Like, really, how lame of an excuse is that?
But it's the truth.
The year, for New Year's Eve, I will be hanging out with my family, watching Harry Potter and drooling over Tom Felton.
And another thing: I don't do New Year's Resolutions. Ever. Although I feel as though I ought to.
I've never really understood the point of resolutions. I mean, why not just do it during the year? Why does a new year have to begin for you to do something? Why can't you resolve to make a change at the start of a new day, or even in the middle of one?
My friend Makena had texted me on Saturday night. It was a long, multi-page text, listing all the ingredients we would need to make cookies, which we had been planning on doing on Sunday. We had joked about it for a while and since she was leaving within the next few days to go up to her family's cabin, Sunday seemed like the perfect day to have her over to make cookies.
My family, apparently, had other plans.
I was informed, at noon on Sunday, that we were going to the movies, to see Sherlock Holmes, so Makena wouldn't be able to come over.
Upon retrieving our tickets and entering the theater, the ticket person took my ticket stub, handed me a pair of 3D glasses, and pointed to theater five, wishing me a good day.
Something didn't add up. 3D glasses... For Sherlock Holmes? Huh?
And then I glanced at the ticket stub, which read: "Avatar 3D."
I waved the ticket stub in front of my dad's face. "You got us tickets to Avatar, Dad!"
He simply nodded at me. How out of the loop I was.
We entered the theater, which was surprisingly full. And, being that full of people, we had to sit in the first few rows. Of course. We went to a 3D movie and sat literally within twenty feet of the screen. I have an awful neck cramp just thinking about it. LIke, seriously. Whose bad idea wa sit to show up twenty minutes before a popular movie, expecting to get great seats? That great honor, ladies and gentlemen, would go to my father.
The redeeming quality about the 3D-ness of the movie was that the glasses looked like wayfarers. Hooray.
Comparatively, when you think you're going to watch Robert Downey Jr. parade across the screen and instead are tricked into watching blue half-human mutations scamper across the screen for two and a half hours, Avatar wasn't very good. But, after I got over the initial grumpiness, (and after I saw the main character,) I got into the movie.
It might have actually been worth the eight dollars.
While most of the movie is all about special effects, the plotline was great, if not slightly predictable at parts.
The 3D got old really fast. I found myself peering over the glasses at times just to see what it looked like. My opinion on 3d? "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." It's like putting mini chocolate chips on a sprinkled doughnut. It doesn't really make it any better, but it doesn't hurt the overall product. It's just overkill.
That being said, it was still a good movie. Scratch that. It was a great movie.
So. I felt compelled to make one of these. Everyone was making them on Facebook ages ago, but, since I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, here are my random facts:
I'm a theater kid. I know. Seriously. What a tragedy. But with us, everything is seriously a tragedy. Or the best thing that's ever happened to you. Just don't mess with our friends and castmates.
Right now, I am listening to music from "The Little Mermaid" musical on Broadway. I know.
My nails are currently painted Dior: Black Sequins. Last coat was done at about one o'clock today.
I probably ought to be in bed right now. Except that would entail going downstairs to get a glove out of the kitchen. That probably makes no sense, but (oh, here we go again with the random, rambling, pointless stories) the stuff I put on my face after I wash it has some kind of ingredient in it that messes with my nail polish and makes it not shiny. Which I hate. So I remedy this by wearing a glove, Michael Jackson style (may he rest in peace), when I'm putting the stuff on my face. I win. Take that skin care people of the world. You can't mess with my nail polish anymore.
Walter Moers is my favorite author ever. He writes like JK Rowling, Shel Silverstein, and Tolkein on crack. It's so ridiculously entertaining. Seriously. Go read The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear or The City of Dreaming Books. Right now. Go.
I'm a chapstick addict. I always have my Burt's Bees with me everywhere I go. Seriously. I can't leave the house without it for fear of having a total breakdown.
I want to major in jewelry design at FIDM.
Relationship ADD. It's a problem. I'm like a puppy. As soon as the guy I like starts showing interest, I stop liking him. It's ridiculous. But I think I've already met my soul mate, so anyways...
My old iPod video is possessed. It would turn on in the middle of the night and be like, "YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO MUSIC!" And it was creepy, because, no, I didn't really want to listen to music. I wanted to sleep.
I love being ridiculously tall.
I love The Illusionist and The Prestige.
Robert Downey Jr. Good grief. I love that man. Okay, really, I mean, have you SEEN Iron Man?! My word. And Sherlock Holmes. Gosh. I NEED to see that movie. In conclusion, I would gladly marry RDJr., despite the fact that he is 28 years my senior. Oh, well.
I add -tastic to the end of words to make it an adjective. For example: fun would be funtastic, awesome would be awesometastic, amazing would be amazingtastic... You get the picture.
Apparently, I am a tease. Who knew?
I drink milk. ALL. THE. TIME. Never broken a bone either... Any correlation here? Hmm.
Accident prone? I do believe so. (Uh-oh. Here comes a story...) I tripped on the stairs the other day going back to class from lunch. Granted, I didn't trip DOWN the stairs, like a normal person would; I tripped UP the stairs, and I managed to flail ungracefully and hit my hand on the handrail. It would have been funny had I not almost fainted in the hallway outside my Calculus class.
I obsessively clean my closet ONLY when I'm talking on the phone.
I can read MLIA for HOURS on end.
I love my family. Never do I have as much fun as when I'm with them. Seriously. We have THE best jokes. EVER.
My best friend Emilly made me a painting for my birthday. I haven't yet put it up on my wall, but it sits on my desk, and everyone always compliments it when they see it.
I went to Walmart the other day and bought a pack of five white Hanes v-neck shirts for boys. I love them.
I'm terrified of driving. On one hand, I really need to get my license. But, on the other hand, just the thought of driving freaks me out. I'm nearly 17 and everyone I know has their licenses. It's ridiculous.
My grandpa and my brother are my two favorite people in the world. My grandpa is, well, old. We share the same birthday (March 3rd!) and, as such, he calls me "Birthday Girl". He has diabetes. I love him very much. And my brother. Oh, my brother. I love that kid. He's crazy, but he sees me daily. He's taller than me now. It's sad.
I started watching Heroes, for the sole purpose of seeing Zach Quinto. Gah. He is one beautiful man. I don't care if he's gay or not. He's soooooo attractive. Best Sylar joke ever? "You better be careful if you take Sylar to homecoming as your date! Keep him away from the cheerleaders!" (Rachele). "Oh, it's not like they have brains for him to eat anyways." (Me). "Imagine his face when he goes to eat their brains and he sees that, 'Oh my gosh! There is no brain! There's nothing there!'" (Rachele). I love Rachele. We have some funny jokes. And Zach Quinto. Love him. Have I already said that?
I'm stubborn.
It's taken me nearly an hour or two to get this all down, but I felt compelled to do so. I could, and probably SHOULD have, quit half way through, but, well, the only other thing I would have been doing is sleeping, so hey, why not?
